My Take
Jeon Jong-seo is one of the most quietly terrifying talents to emerge from Korean cinema. Her debut in Burning was a revelation, an enigmatic, ungraspable performance that no first-timer should have been able to deliver. Then she flipped entirely in The Call, weaponizing menace and even her voice to chilling effect. What fascinates me is her shapeshifting; she seems to dissolve completely into each role, leaving no trace of the previous one. The Baeksang Best Actress award for The Call barely captured how singular she already was. I've been watching her career with real attention and expect her reach to keep widening.
