My Take
I've got a real soft spot for the steady, lifer comedians, and Wakki is exactly that breed. A Hokkaido kid out of Kushiro, born in '72, which means by 2024 he's a guy who has spent decades in the trenches of Japanese owarai rather than flaming out as some one-hit wonder, and honestly that kind of staying power impresses me more than any flashy debut. There's a grounded, unpretentious quality to him that I associate with that northern upbringing, and the fact that he went on to Senshu University makes me suspect there's a sharper brain working behind the easygoing surface. At 178cm he still reads as someone with plenty of energy left in the tank. I just like watching people who keep quietly showing up and putting in the work, and he feels like one of them.
