My Take
Jerome Kiesewetter fascinates me because of one decision: born and raised in Berlin, he chose to represent the United States. That gap between the country of your birth and the flag you carry usually hides a deeper personal story, and I find myself wanting to know his. A forward who came up through the Stuttgart system before crossing the Atlantic, he carried two continents on his shoulders every time he played. There is an Aquarian, road-less-travelled quality to that path. He may not have reached stardom, but this kind of border-crossing life is exactly what moves me. I think he was a fine player.
