Junkichi Orimoto

I love a guy like Junkichi Orimoto, the kind of actor who's been alive on screen so long he feels less like a star and more like a piece of the furniture in the best possible way. Born back in 1927 in Yokohama and trained, of all things, at a technical high school, he's got that working-class, built-from-the-ground-up texture that you can't fake. He was never the flashy lead; he was the guy who planted himself in the corner of the frame and quietly anchored the whole thing, and as a voice actor that low, weathered rasp could tighten a room with a single muttered line. What gets me is the longevity, still acting deep into his nineties, a craftsman to the end. No fireworks, just decades of accumulated weight, and honestly that's the kind of presence I'll always take over noise.
