Jo Kwon

Jo Kwon fascinates me because of his sheer range. As leader of the ballad group 2AM he carries genuine vocal weight, yet on variety shows he throws himself into comedy with total abandon. What earns my respect most is his refusal to coast on idol status: he has taken on demanding stage roles, from King Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar to the lead in Everybody's Talking About Jamie. That willingness to stand bare on a stage and act and sing live is rare. I suspect performers this versatile are the ones who quietly endure long after the trends move on.
