Joe Marler

What I admire most about Joe Marler isn't the scrum work, impressive as a Harlequins and England prop surely was, but the reinvention that followed. Front-row forwards take a brutal physical toll, yet here's a man who turned all that pain and chaos into a thriving second act as a podcaster and TV personality after retiring in 2024. That mohawk-sporting hard man clearly always had a sharp, self-deprecating wit hiding behind the bruises. To me he embodies the modern athlete who understands that the body has a shelf life but personality endures. Marler proved he could win off the pitch too, and I find that genuinely likeable.
