My Take
John Roll is a name I think deserves to be remembered with care. A Pittsburgh-born lawyer who rose to chief judge of Arizona's federal district court, he spent his life inside the machinery of justice. His assassination in 2011 still unsettles me deeply, because there is something profoundly wrong about a man who upheld the law being taken by violence.
