My Take

John Sessions represents a kind of comedy I am sad to see grow rarer: improvisation powered by genuine erudition. On Whose Line Is It Anyway? he spun wit out of thin air, and on QI he proved that being clever and being funny need not be at odds. Co-creating Stella Street and turning in sharp character work across British and Hollywood films, he was a craftsman who treated language as a playground. His death in 2020 left a real gap. I deeply respect performers who bring intelligence into laughter without ever making it feel like homework, and Sessions did exactly that with rare grace.
