Jonathan Bailey

Jonathan Bailey is one of those actors who makes you realize how rare genuine stage-trained charisma actually is on screen. I first noticed him as Anthony Bridgerton — a role that could have been pure bodice-ripper cheese but ended up surprisingly moving, largely because Bailey commits so completely that you forget you're watching a period fantasy. Then came Wicked in 2024, where he played Fiyero opposite Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, and honestly held his own in extraordinary company. The Olivier Award for his West End work tells you everything: this guy can do the real thing live, eight shows a week, no safety net. He came out publicly in 2021, and the way he talked about it — matter-of-fact, no drama — felt very him. There's a groundedness to Bailey that I find more compelling than any amount of manufactured mystique.
