Kazuya Shimba

I'll be honest, I usually glaze over when politicians start talking, but Shimba is one of the rare ones who actually says things in plain language instead of hiding behind that mushy bureaucratic fog. There's something disarming about a guy from a small town in Shizuoka who went all the way to a college in Ohio and came back without a shred of that look-at-me polish. He just talks straight. And the fact that he landed a secretary-general gig, basically the party's head-of-household role, tells me he isn't only good for soundbites; he can run the back-of-house and keep the gears turning. Whatever you think of his politics, I find that kind of unfiltered directness weirdly refreshing in a world built on poker faces.
