My Take
Buckland is the kind of musician I treasure most: the quiet architect behind a stadium-sized sound. As Coldplay's lead guitarist and co-founder, he rarely seeks the spotlight, yet his shimmering, atmospheric playing is the band's emotional backbone. I love that his influences trace back to My Bloody Valentine, the Stone Roses and U2, because you can hear that lineage of texture and feeling in his work. There is something deeply admirable about a player who prioritizes the song over his own ego. To me, Jonny embodies the dignity of the supporting role, and that humility is precisely what makes him indispensable.
