My Take
Julian Clary is, in my view, one of British comedy's great survivors. He arrived in the 1980s with sequins, innuendo, and a delivery so deadpan it disarmed audiences before they could be shocked, and he has never once diluted the act. What impresses me is the range hiding behind the camp: novels, pantomime seasons that sell out year after year, and a Celebrity Big Brother win that showed the public's genuine affection for him. Staying visibly, unapologetically himself through decades when that carried real professional risk took courage as much as wit. That consistency, to me, is his finest punchline.
