My Take

Kaiane Aldorino fascinates me because she refused to let a beauty crown define her. Winning Miss World 2009 for Gibraltar, a place often overlooked on the world stage, was already a statement of pride. But the move that earns my respect is what followed: stepping into public service, becoming Deputy Mayor and then Mayor of Gibraltar.
