Karl Wallinger

Karl Wallinger is the kind of quiet genius I cherish most. As the leader of World Party and a key Waterboys member, he shaped the arrangement of "The Whole of the Moon," a song that still lands like a gift decades later. A Welsh multi-instrumentalist who could sing, write, produce and play nearly everything, he built whole worlds largely by himself. He never chased the brightest spotlight, yet his music lodges deep in the listener's memory. His passing in 2024 was a real loss, but craftsmanship like his does not fade. I admire artists who let the work speak louder than the persona.
