My Take
Keith Levene strikes me as one of the most quietly influential guitarists in British music. As a founding member of both the Clash and Public Image Ltd, he sat at the very birth of punk and post-punk, and PiL's jagged, metallic guitar textures shaped countless bands that followed. I admire artists who chase sound itself rather than the spotlight, and Levene did exactly that, bending music into something cold and new. His passing in 2022 closed a genuinely pioneering chapter. To me, 'innovator' is the word that fits him best, and his fingerprints are all over the music I love.
