Ken Paxton

Ken Paxton fascinates me as a case study in political durability. A Baylor-educated lawyer born in Minot, North Dakota, he has held the Texas attorney general's office since 2015 through controversies that would have ended most careers, and now carries the Republican nomination for the 2026 Senate race. Whatever you think of his politics, and few figures divide opinion so cleanly, his survival instincts are undeniable. I find him most interesting as a mirror of modern Texas conservatism: combative, litigious, and utterly unapologetic. To understand where American legal politics is heading, watching Paxton is practically required homework.
