Wonpil is genuinely one of the most quietly underrated figures in K-pop, and I say that as someone who thinks Day6 as a whole deserves way more credit than the genre's hype cycle has given them. As the keyboardist and one of the vocalists, he brings this warm, slightly melancholic texture to the band's sound that you notice most when it's gone — his melodic instincts are sharp in a way that feels rooted in real musicianship rather than idol polish. His 2022 solo debut Pilmography landing at number one on the Gaon Album Chart felt like a long-overdue moment for him, and the record had a personal, almost diary-like intimacy to it that suited him perfectly.
