Kōji Yamamoto

I have so much respect for performers who start as kids and just never stop showing up, and Kōji Yamamoto is exactly that guy. The man does serious drama, then turns around and sings and dances his way through a stage musical, then lends his voice to something animated, and it all looks effortless. When he plays those ramrod-straight historical types, like the Shinsengumi's Hijikata, that perfect posture and steely calm just sells it completely. Off screen, he married Maki Horikita in 2015, months after they played lovers in a stage Wuthering Heights. And after all these years he never coasts on seniority or plays the grizzled veteran. He just keeps quietly doing excellent work, and honestly, that's the most attractive thing about him.
