My Take
What strikes me about Laura Barjum is the trajectory rather than the crown itself. Being Miss Colombia 2017 and finishing first runner-up at Miss Universe is impressive, but plenty of pageant winners fade. She kept moving, into acting and YouTube, building a voice on her own terms. Born in Cali and raised in Cartagena, she speaks Spanish, English and French, and her natural charisma reads well on camera. I respect performers who treat a title as a launchpad instead of a destination, and she seems to belong firmly in that camp.
