My Take

What strikes me about Laura Barjum is the trajectory rather than the crown itself. Being Miss Colombia 2017 and finishing first runner-up at Miss Universe is impressive, but plenty of pageant winners fade. She kept moving, into acting and YouTube, building a voice on her own terms. Coming from Cali, a city soaked in salsa and warmth, there is a natural charisma to her that I think reads well on camera. I respect performers who treat a title as a launchpad instead of a destination, and she seems to belong firmly in that camp.
