Lauren German

Lauren German is the kind of actor I quietly champion. Her Chloe Decker anchored Lucifer's wild supernatural premise in something believably human, and her earlier run on Chicago Fire showed the same steadiness. With a USC education and a Huntington Beach upbringing, she strikes me as smart and unshowy, the sort of performer who elevates a scene by giving her co-stars room rather than grabbing the spotlight. I value that generosity enormously; it is easy to overlook but it is the connective tissue that holds long-running ensembles together, and she does it with real grace.
