Lauren Holly

Lauren Holly has built the kind of career I find more impressive than flashier ones: decades of steady, authoritative television work. She has a particular gift for playing women in charge, whether a small-town deputy sheriff, an agency director, or a coroner, and she makes institutional power feel lived-in rather than costumed. The Sarah Lawrence pedigree and the dual American-Canadian footing suggest someone deliberate about her path. Plenty of actors get one defining decade; Holly has quietly strung together four, adding producing and voice work along the way. I read her as a consummate professional, and professionals are what keep good shows standing.
