My Take
Les Ferdinand is the kind of striker I have a soft spot for: a worker as much as a finisher. What strikes me is the sheer breadth of his journey, from Acton to a who's-who of Premier League clubs and a spell at Besiktas in Turkey. That willingness to travel and adapt says a lot about his hunger. The MBE and his pivot into coaching and writing tell me he was never just a goalscorer; he was a thinker about the game. I admire careers built on persistence rather than hype, and his is exactly that.
