Yui Yokoyama

I have a soft spot for the steady ones, and Yui Yokoyama is exactly that. Stepping up as AKB48's General Manager meant riding herd on one of the biggest idol groups around, smiling out front while quietly keeping the whole machine running behind the scenes, and honestly that's a job that would give most people an ulcer. She's a Kyoto kid born in 1992 who sang, danced, acted, and carried the responsibility of being everyone's big-sister glue all at once, which makes me wonder how she found the hours. She was never the loudest spark in the room, but she was the one you'd miss the second she left. I tend to think that kind of dependable warmth is what people end up loving the longest.
