My Take
Lucas Cavallini is a player I instinctively root for. A Toronto-born forward who went and proved himself in Liga MX, one of the most physically demanding leagues anywhere, he clearly never took the comfortable road. At 175 cm he is not the towering target striker, so his game is built on grit and willingness to take a beating in the box. To me he represents the generation that helped drag Canadian soccer into real international relevance. There is something deeply likable about a player who crosses borders to chase the game, and Cavallini did exactly that with real fight.
