Mahmood

Mahmood strikes me as one of the most interesting voices in contemporary Italian music. Winning the Sanremo Festival twice, with Soldi and again alongside Blanco on Brividi, is no small feat, but what draws me in is the texture of his work: he braids his immigrant roots and modern urban loneliness into pop that feels both global and intimate. The ease with which he blends ethnic colour and chart sensibility seems instinctive rather than calculated. Rising from X Factor to writing his own story into song, he has the artistic confidence that travels. I expect his reach to keep widening.
