My Take
Matt Ridley is the rare polymath who refuses to stay in one lane, and that is exactly why I find him interesting. Banker, journalist, zoologist, politician, economist, Fellow of the Royal Society, Magdalen College man, he also chaired Northern Rock during a famous banking run. I am drawn to thinkers who put their ideas at real risk in the world rather than staying safely on the page. Whether or not you agree with his arguments, the breadth is genuine. A restless Aquarian mind like his tends to produce writing worth arguing with, which is the highest compliment I can offer.
