My Take

What fascinates me about Mia Goth is her total commitment to discomfort. Most actors with her modeling background drift toward safe, glamorous roles; she went the opposite way, building a career out of films that make audiences squirm, from Nymphomaniac and Suspiria to the X trilogy, where she played both innocence and monstrous longing. Her unhinged turn in Pearl convinced me she is the rare performer who treats horror as serious actor's territory rather than a stepping stone. Awards bodies are slow to honor genre work, but I suspect history will be kinder to her filmography than to many prestige darlings.
