My Take
To most viewers McElhatton will always be Roose Bolton, and that chilly, treacherous stare is a masterclass in understated menace. But what I respect is the fuller picture: an Irish actor and writer who came up through Dublin's stage and film scene rather than the Hollywood machine. He's the kind of dependable character actor who quietly raises the level of everything he's in, and the fact that he also writes tells me he understands stories from the inside. I'll take a hundred of these grounded craftsmen over one manufactured star.
