My Take

I genuinely enjoy that a celebrity database makes room for a philosopher like Michael Tye alongside actors and footballers. As the Dallas TACA Centennial Professor at UT Austin, he has spent his career wrestling with the philosophy of mind, the maddening question of what consciousness actually is. There's no red-carpet glamour here, but to me the attempt to put the most mysterious thing about being human into rigorous language is more thrilling than most spectacle. His patient, building-block thinking offers a window into the universe inside our own heads, and that earns my quiet, sincere respect.
