Nakayama Kinnikun

I'll be honest, the first time I clocked Nakayama Kinnikun I figured he was a one-joke guy: flex, yell, exit. But the longer I watch, the more I think that's the whole genius of it. He's a comedian whose entire body is the punchline, and there's something disarming about a Kitakyushu kid who decided his bit would be, well, actual muscle, built for real over years. The "Ya!" pose makes me laugh before I've even processed why, which is the kind of dumb magic you can't fake. What sticks with me, though, is the gap underneath: the goofy, sunny persona sitting on top of genuinely brutal discipline. You come to giggle at the flexing and leave weirdly respecting the man. That mix of clown and craftsman is rarer than it looks, and I'm a little charmed by it.
