My Take
Nanami Matsumoto was born on August 23, 1994, in Hiroshima Prefecture, stands 166 cm, and became known both as a gravure model and in Japan's adult video industry. What strikes me writing this entry is how lopsided the surviving record is. For performers in this field, the catalog of output is exhaustively documented, while almost nothing remains about the person — what she wanted, what she turned down, how she thought about the choices in front of her. That is an unfair way for a life to be archived. The verifiable facts here amount to a birth date, a home prefecture, and a height, so I am not going to pretend to a portrait I cannot support. What I can say is that spending years working in that industry is not a passive thing that happens to someone; it involves decisions, negotiation, and a considerable tolerance for public judgment. Whatever else is unknown, that much deserves to be treated seriously rather than reduced to a filmography.
