My Take

What I admire most about Neil Gaiman is that he treats every storytelling medium as equally sacred. The Sandman alone redefined what a comic could carry, while American Gods and Coraline proved the range was no fluke. The awards pile up, Hugo, Nebula, Bram Stoker, but the detail I keep returning to is the word beekeeper sitting in his list of occupations. A man who writes about gods and nightmares while tending hives feels exactly right: patient, attentive to small living things, comfortable with the occasional sting. His dark stories always hide a stubborn kindness, and that is why readers trust him so completely.
