My Take
Niecy Nash is one of the most quietly impressive range artists working, and I do not say that lightly. The Palmdale native came up through a cleaning show and the chaos of Reno 911!, then proved she could land a real dramatic punch in Claws and, in 2023, won an Emmy for supporting actress. Making the jump from comedienne to award-winning dramatic actor is brutally hard, and she made it look natural. To me the most telling thing is that she kept her warmth and humor through it all. I tend to believe the brightest people carry the most steel underneath, and Nash is proof.
