Noriko Hidaka

Okay, if you've watched any amount of anime, you've heard Noriko Hidaka, full stop. She's one of those voices that just lives in your head rent-free, plucky kids and earnest young women delivered with this bright, springy energy that never sounds like she's straining for it. And the longevity is genuinely wild to me; she's been a first-call talent for decades and still sounds impossibly youthful, which feels like cheating. What I love is the lightness, the way she slips into a role and you instantly go "oh, it's her" without her ever showing off. On top of voice work she sings and acts too, so she's not boxed in by any one lane. Born in 1962 and still this elastic and warm? That's not luck, that's craft you can hear.
