Owen Jones

Owen Jones is one of those writers who refuses to let public discourse go quiet, and I respect that. An Oxford graduate who chose to champion the working class, his debut on the demonization of so-called chavs showed real nerve. He is polarizing, sure, but I would rather have a columnist who picks fights with the consensus than one who drifts with it. Running his own show and podcast while writing for The Guardian, he has built a platform on conviction rather than convenience. To me, combative voices like his are what keep journalism honest and alive.
