My Take
What draws me to Paola Cortellesi is the rare completeness of her artistry. Plenty of actors flirt with directing or writing, but Cortellesi actually wins David di Donatello honors as a lead actress, a debut director, and a screenwriter all at once. That is not a vanity pivot, it is mastery of both sides of the camera. I especially admire that she earned an audience award through comedy, the hardest genre to take seriously and the easiest to underrate. A Roman who can make a country laugh and then make it think behind the laughter is, to me, exactly the kind of artist worth watching closely.
