Marcel Koller

I have a soft spot for footballers who grow into something richer as managers, and Marcel Koller fits that mold perfectly. A Zurich-born Swiss who went from player to coach and earned his country's Coach of the Year award in 1999, he now manages FC Zurich, returning home to lead. There's something satisfying about that full circle. I picture him as a calm, calculating presence on the touchline, the kind of manager whose decades of accumulated wisdom are his real weapon. Coaches who once played understand the dressing room from the inside, and that empathy, paired with experience, is exactly what I value.
