My Take
Paul Feig is one of the most quietly influential comedy minds of his generation. Freaks and Geeks lasted a single season yet launched half of modern Hollywood, and you can feel his fingerprints all over its bittersweet, deeply human humor. As a director he became the go-to guy for putting funny women front and center. Bridesmaids is a landmark, and Spy is criminally underrated as both an action film and a Melissa McCarthy showcase. I also love that he shows up to set in a full three-piece suit; it tells you everything about how seriously he takes the craft of making people laugh.
