My Take

I first assumed Philippe Clement was purely a touchline figure, but he was a towering 196 cm presence on the pitch first, an Antwerp-born Belgian who came up through Genk and Beerschot before a season at Coventry City in England. What interests me is how cleanly he made the leap from player to manager, now heading Norwich City. The best coaches read a match from both the player's eye and the bird's-eye view at once, and Clement strikes me as one of those rare bilinguals of the game. He looks understated, but I suspect there is real steel in him when the result is on the line.
