My Take

Princess Charlotte intrigues me as a study in composure acquired absurdly young. Third in line to the British throne and carrying the names Elizabeth and Diana, she has been photographed since the day she was born, yet in public appearances she often looks like the steadiest person on the balcony. I notice the small things: the confident wave, the occasional side-eye at her brothers, the sense that she already understands the theater she was born into. My honest hope concerns her present childhood more than her future role; institutions can wait. If the monarchy modernizes gracefully, I suspect children like her will be the reason.
