My Take

Cavagna is the kind of rider I quietly root for. Born in Clermont-Ferrand, in the volcanic heart of France, and standing a lean 186 cm, he has built a career as a WorldTour engine for Groupama-FDJ. What draws me to him is the discipline of the time-trial specialist: no teammates to hide behind, just a man, a watch, and his own lungs against the road. That solitary effort tells you more about character than any sprint finish. Still in his prime since 1995, he has plenty of road ahead, and I'll be watching from the side of the climb.
