Robert Cecil Martin

As someone who cares about how software is built, I hold Uncle Bob in high regard. His push for clean code, sound design principles, and his signing of the Agile Manifesto shaped how countless engineers think about their craft. His core message, that code is read far more than it is written, so write it for the next human, is deceptively simple and endlessly important. He can be dogmatic and his opinions provoke debate, but that friction has sharpened the whole profession. I count myself among the many who were knocked awake by his books.
