My Take

Robin Guthrie is, for my money, one of the great texture-makers in modern music. As co-founder of Cocteau Twins, this Grangemouth-born Scot layered effects-drenched guitars into something that felt less like songs and more like weather, and in doing so he helped invent dream pop wholesale. I love how completely he owns the process: producer, engineer, composer, multi-instrumentalist all at once. His solo work, often wordless, keeps painting those same hazy landscapes without chasing trends. That uncompromising aesthetic, a stubborn devotion to mood over fashion, is exactly why his sound has aged so beautifully. I admire him enormously.
