My Take
Sable is, for me, a genuine emblem of late-90s pro wrestling. Her WWF runs from 1996 to 1999, and again in the early 2000s, made her one of the most recognizable figures of that boom era. What I find compelling is the tension in her story: model, Playboy Playmate, actress, wrestler, her identity blurred constantly with her private life as she moved from Rena Mero to Rena Lesnar. She embodied exactly what that era wanted from a woman in the ring, yet she stepped into it on her own terms. Long retired now, she remains someone I think deserves to be remembered with real respect.
