My Take
Okay, Sayaka Okada is the kind of multi-hyphenate that makes me a little jealous. You've got the 170cm model frame, the gravure career, the polished Tokyo-girl glamour, and then she sits down at a mahjong table as an actual licensed pro and plays to win. That combination shouldn't make sense, and that's exactly why I love it. Most people who can coast on looks never wander into a game this cerebral and unglamorous, but she clearly relishes the tiles, the math, the cold focus. The Aoyama Gakuin education tracks, too, because there's a sharpness behind that camera-ready face. I'll be honest, I barely understand mahjong, but I'll happily watch her play a full match anyway. The whole gap is the appeal, and she wears both halves like they were always meant to fit.
