My Take

Sean Lock was, for my money, one of the finest deadpan minds Britain ever produced. From Chertsey, he won the British Comedy Award for Best Live Comic in 2000, and that honor barely captures the genius of his timing, the way he'd deliver an absurd logical leap with a perfectly straight face. He spanned stand-up, acting, writing, and presenting, becoming a kind of backbone of British comedy. Losing him in 2021 stung, and it still does. But the beauty of a comic like Lock is that his jokes never really die; they live on in the recordings, and I find myself returning to them just to be made to laugh all over again.
