Skepta is, to me, one of the most important British artists of his generation. A Nigerian-British MC raised in Tottenham, he and his brother Jme built Boy Better Know and dragged grime from the underground onto the world stage without softening it for mainstream taste. What impresses me most is his refusal to compromise: he produces, designs, directs and DJs, doing it all on his own terms.
