My Take
Ståle Solbakken comes across to me as a manager driven by conviction. A towering former midfielder from Kongsvinger who won a Kniksen Award as a player, he proved his ideas translate to the dugout, even picking up a 2004 coaching award and a 2021 Amnesty Prize that hints at a man with principles beyond the pitch. His defining achievement, guiding Norway back to the World Cup for the first time since Egil Olsen in 1998, ended a long drought that defined a generation of Norwegian football. I respect leaders who win through belief rather than flash, and Solbakken strikes me as exactly that kind of figure.
