Takahiko Kozuka

Honestly, Takahiko Kozuka is the kind of skater I find myself quietly rooting for. Coming out of Nagoya, basically Japan's figure-skating heartland, and trained in a real skating family, he always struck me as a craftsman first and a showman second. When I picture him, it's not big fist-pumps but those deep, gliding edges and that clean, unfussy technique people kept calling textbook. There's something I love about a competitor who lets the skating do the talking and then bows like it was nothing. He came up in a stacked era of Japanese men's skating, which makes his run feel even more impressive to me. Behind every smooth performance are thousands of falls nobody sees, and that quiet grind is exactly why he earns my respect.
