My Take

Talal Al-Bloushi fascinates me precisely because of his border-crossing story: born in Al Jahra, Kuwait, yet capped by Qatar, and now coaching the Iraqi club Zakho. Gulf football is a tangle of nationality, identity, and shifting allegiances, and he navigated all of it to build a lasting career. At 174 cm he was never going to win with size, which makes me suspect his game leaned on craft and reading the play. I find people who keep reinventing themselves across the region compelling, and his move from player to itinerant coach suggests a man genuinely in love with the game rather than the glory.
